The only significant difference between the two is that while the A2010 sports a 4.5-inch display the A1000 comes with a smaller 4-inch display. Nevertheless, the Lenovo A1000 offers all the specs and features you would expect from a budget smartphone. So what can you expect from the Lenovo A1000? And is it the best phone under 5000 Rs? It is time to find out.
Best Phone Under 5000 Rs. : Lenovo A1000
Unlike its older sibling, the Lenovo A1000 flaunts a 4 inch WVGA TFT display. The latter display comes with a 480 x 800-pixel resolution. Obviously, this is not the best display out there; however given the A1000 4000 Rs price tag its quality is understandable. The screen is a capacitive touch screen with a five finger touch support. Given its price, the A1000’s screen does not come with a screen protector. Nevertheless, virtually no smartphone under 5000 Rs come with a screen protector. Thus, the screen is a standard budget smartphone display.
Design and Built
As already stated, the A1000 is an exact replica of the A2010. Thus, the phone is available in either black or white. Additionally, the A1000 is a dual SIM smartphone and weighs 132 grams. The physical dimensions of this phone are 124.5 by 64 by 10.6 mm. Thus, despite its budget smartphone status, the A1000 offers a pretty decent and compact design. In this regard, this handset can easily be held in one hand. Furthermore, the removable rear back panel is not slippery which makes operating the phone easier.
The rear panel has the gray Lenovo logo inscribed on it. Unlike its older sibling the A2010, the bezel surrounding the A1000’s display take up more space. As such, a second Lenovo logo is inscribed just above the display near the phone’s front-facing camera. At the bottom of the screen are three capacitive touch buttons. Removing the phone’s back cover reveals two micro SIM card slots and a Micro SD card slot. Overall, Lenovo did a good job of making this phone as appealing as possible. Hence, you are bound to be impressed by its compact design especially if you are a first-time android smartphone buyer.
On the right-hand side of the phone is a volume and power rocker. The volume rocker is placed above the power button. The left-hand side is barren, and so is the bottom part of the smartphone. With the bottom of the phone being barren the USB port is placed on top next to the 3.5 mm jack. The speaker grille is placed on the rear panel below the phone’s primary camera and the Lenovo logo. Accompanying the phone are a wall adapter, a USB cable, earphones as well as a warranty card and a user instructions manual.
User Interface and Software
With the Android Lollipop 5.0 OS at its core, it is not difficult to see why some have hailed the Lenovo A1000 as the best mobile under 5000 Rs. The Lollipop 5.0 OS offers an improved visual experience and is more responsive and efficient. Lenovo throws in several pre-installed apps to enhance the phone’s user experience. Some of the pre-installed apps you get with this phone include Shareit with Cloneit, which is an app that lets you share files over a wireless platform without requiring network charges or Wi-Fi connection. You also get the SYNCit app which lets you back up your messages, call logs as well as contacts. As if that’s not enough, the A1000 also comes with a satellite controlled GPS app that does not require an internet connection.
Performance and Battery
The performance of any smartphone relies heavily on its processor. To make the A1000 the best smartphone under 5000 Rs, the Chinese manufacturer opted for a quad-core Spreadtrum SC7731 processor. The latter processor is clocked at 1.3 Ghz marks a significant improvement to the 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735M processor of the A2010 model. However, similar to its older sibling, the A1000 has 1GB of RAM installed. This is in addition to the 8GB of onboard storage available that can be expanded to 32 GB using a micro USB.
For graphics, Lenovo opted for the Mali-400MP2 graphics card. The quad core processor on this budget smartphone might not be the best Mediatek chipset out there; however, it offers a smooth and fluid gaming experience. Also, it enables the Android Lollipop OS to run smoothly. Thus, this quad core processor is another reason the A1000 deserves the title of the best android phone under 5000 Rs. The 1GB of RAM is also not bad given than some budget smartphones offer a meager 512 MB of RAM.
Compared to the A2010 and the YU Unique, the Lenovo A1000 battery lasts longer. The battery is a 2,050 Mah, which is slightly larger than the 2000 Mah battery of the A2010 model. The battery on the A1000 is able to last for up to 6 hours of talk time. In regards to battery capacity, the A1000 rightly deserves the title of the best android mobile under 5000 Rs in its price segment.
The Lenovo A1000 supports two main connectivity options, 3G, 2G and GSM. Similar to almost all budget phones that cost less than 5000 Rs, this handset is not 4G/ LTE compatible. However, it comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1. This is in addition to the phone having a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Being a budget smartphone, not much is to be expected from the A1000 in regards to the camera. Nonetheless, the phone is fitted with a 5-megapixel primary rear camera similar to that of the A2010 model. This 5-megapixel rear snapper takes some good quality photos. A 0.3 VGA megapixel camera is also available. This camera is not as good as the 2-megapixel camera you get with the A2010 model; however, it still can take some decent selfies. Additionally, as a first-time Android smartphone user, the camera will not be such an issue.
Choosing between the A1000 and the A2010 can be difficult. While the latter offers you a good front facing camera for taking selfies the former gives you a smooth and fluid user experience. Thus, in the long run, if you are looking for a first time smartphone that will not give you a headache, the A1000 is the phone for you. Thus, it is fair to say that the A1000 is the best mobile phone under 5000 Rs. In conclusion, the Lenovo A1000 offers you great value for money and is a phone you should consider acquiring if you plan on joining the Android smartphone bandwagon.
