Best Phone Under 25000 Rs. in India (July 2016)
There is no denying that the Nexus 6, which debuted in 2014, was a massive success for Google. However, its large size and high-end price tag did not augur well with most Nexus fans. Thus, the release of the Nexus 5X a year later was a welcome addition to Google’s Nexus line of smartphones. A sequel to the original Nexus 5, the 5X is relatively cheaper and more compact than its Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P counterparts. Although it is a low-end device compared to the Nexus 6, its robust performance and compact design has led to it being touted as the best phone under 25000 Rs. and here is why.

Similar to one of its closest competitors, the Samsung Galaxy S6, the Nexus 5X sports a 5.2-inch display. This full HD 1,920 by 1,080 LCD display is surprisingly vibrant, sharp and bright. Additionally, colors appear balanced and do not look oversaturated. And unlike its predecessor, colors on the screen of the 5X do not appear overly dull. The viewing angles on this full HD display are sufficiently broad. Thus although this 5.2-inch screen is not Quad HD it offers a pleasant viewing experience and is a welcome upgrade to its predecessor’s 5-inch display.
For protection, the Nexus 5X’s display boasts of a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 glass. The latter is an oleophobic treated scratch resistant glass that protects the screen from smudges and fingerprints. Admittedly, this protective glass is not a 100% efficient; however, it is more than capable of ensuring the display is void of blemishes. The bezel that surrounds the screen takes up very little space. Thus, the 5X’s relatively large screen does not interfere with its compactness. Also, the reduced space taken up by the surrounding bezel means that the fingerprint scanner is located on the phone’s back.
Design and Built
There is not much difference between the Nexus 5X and its older sibling in terms of design and built. As such the all-plastic build of the original Nexus 5 is the same frame you get with the new 5X. As already stated, the bezel surrounding the display take up very little space, which means that the front of the phone is largely featureless except for the front facing camera and the two grilles. Apart from the two grilles and front facing camera, the front of the Nexus 5X also houses an LED notification light.
One of the things that earn the title of the best smartphone under 25000 Rs. is its compact and lightweight design. This LG made handset measures 147 x 72.6 x 7.9mm and weighs 136grams. Although the new Nexus is wider and broader than its 2013 predecessor, it can easily be held in one hand. Interestingly, the new Nexus sports a non-removable back panel that comes in either black, white or light green. This back panel features an LED flash for the primary rear camera, the Nexus logo and the fingerprint scanner. At the bottom of the back cover is a small LG silver logo.
The left-hand side of this phone houses a non-SIM card while the right-hand side houses the power and volume buttons. At the bottom is a type C USB port, which is also used for charging the phone. On top of this smartphone is a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. The type C USB port offers faster file transfer capabilities. Also, with this USB port, you can fit a USB cable in any way. Thu the type C port is a better than the standard USB port common in most modern Android smartphones.
User Interface and Software
In true Google Nexus tradition, the new Nexus comes with the latest version of the Android operating system, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The new OS is a joy to use thanks to some of its unique features such as the Now on Tap feature which allows you to reveal more additional information about anything you are reading or watching. In addition to this feature you also get the Direct share function that lets you share content and files with your contacts. The apps Auto backup feature is another that enhances the 6.0 Marshmallow’s user experience. As the name suggests, this backup feature gives you the ability to back up your phone’s favorite apps. All these features help bolster the Nexus 5X’s status as the best android phone under 25000 Rs.
Performance and Battery
Impressively, the Nexus 5X comes with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexacore processor. Clocked at 1.8 GHz, this is the same processor found in the pricier LG G4 and Moto X Pure. Thus, in terms of performance, the Nexus 5X is the undisputed best mobile under 25000 Rs. This processor is backed by an Adreno 418 graphics card and coupled by 2 GB of RAM. Hence, you are not likely to experience any stutter or lag when using this handset.
Some will be disappointed with the 16 GB of on-board storage available on this device particularly as it does not have a micro SD slot. However, the 16 GB of non-expandable storage cannot be considered a deal breaker especially since there is a wide selection of cloud storage options available. Another surprising feature of this budget handset is its exceptional call quality. The Nexus 5X is clear and loud enough and some users have commented on the phone having a better call quality compared to its pricier counterpart the Nexus 6.
Under the non-removable back panel is a 27000 Mah battery, which is not all that impressive but is understandable given the phone’s price tag. Thus, the battery cannot be compared to that of other pricier models such as the Moto X Pure and the LG G4. However, this battery does keep the phone powered for up to 8 hours and up to 14 hours on standby. In terms of charging, the phone charges quickly and can charge from 0% to 25% in just 10 minutes thanks in large part to its type C USB port.
Though the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5 have very little in common, they do share the same primary camera, a 12.3-megapixel snapper with a wide f2/0 aperture and 1.55-micron pixel. Needless to say, the Nexus 5X is the best camera phone under 25000 Rs. As such, the primary rear camera does an excellent job of capturing images in low light. Additionally, the 12.3-megapixel shooter of the Nexus 5X is able to record clear 4K quality videos with ease and can also take photos in a 360 degrees angle. On the phone’s front side just above the display is a 5 megapixels camera that takes high-quality selfies. Thus, you are bound to enjoy taking photos with your Nexus 5X.
